Club Goals for 2006-2007

 

1.    Formally Adopt updated Bylaws and Constitution

3.    Membership
·      Reconstitute Membership & Development Program
·      Induct a minimum of four new members
·      Conduct two Firesides

Promote diversity of membership

4.    Club Administration
·      All club members personally invited to participate on a committee or project

5.    Community Projects
·      New SafePlace Facilities – hands on and funding assistance
·      Do hands on activity and meet funding target for Rotary Point Park
·      Schedule "Hands on Projects" every two months
·      Perform other community projects as time and budget permit

6.    International Services
·      Complete seven water wells in Zambia using District and RI matching funds
·      Sponsor first ever outbound Youth Exchange student for the school year
·     
Host inbound Youth Exchange student from Thailand
·      Complete  other International projects as time and budget allow

7.    Youth Outreach
·     Charter Interact Club at Rainier High School
·      Begin preliminary planning of Interact expansion to other south county schools

8.    Rotary Foundation
·      Maintain 100% sustaining membership in TRF
·      Gain three new Benefactors
·      Gain one new Bequest Society member

9.   Public Relations
·      Promote/Publicize two club projects in the local media

10.     Club Foundation
·      Reach $60,000 in endowment funding

Club Accomplishments for 2006-2007

The following list of projects or accomplishments were completed last Rotary year:

    Membership:

  • We welcomed 4 new Rotarians into the club.

  • We met the District and RI membership goals for the year.

  • We held a fireside for new members and their spouses.

  • The Rotary Foundation:

  • For the third consecutive year we qualified as a Rotary Foundation 100% Sustaining Member club.

  • We received the District 5020 “Every Rotarian Every Year Award”.

  • We became a Charter Club recipient of the Al Brooks Memorial Award.

  • We supported Area 9B’s participation in the Group Study Exchang program by providing the Brazilian outbound team leader (George Hinkel).  Club members also hosted members of the in-bound South Korean and Brazilian GSE team.

  •  Community Service:

  • We contributed to the South Sound Reading Foundation’s Children’s Book Van Project.  We assisted with sorting and labeling children’s books at the Reading Foundation’s book center.  We received District 5020 Literacy Award for our promotion of literacy in the South Sound area.

  • We helped with the construction of a new safe house for SafePlace by donating $10,000 and doing hands work at the new facility.

  • We sponsored a new Interact Club at Rainier High School and inducted the school’s Interact Faculty Advisor into our club.

  • We sponsored and funded two Rainier High School students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards event conducted at PLU.

  • We exceeded our goal of 50 units of blood donated during the year.

  • We supported the Thurston County Humane Society’s Run with the Dogs fundraising event.

  • We supported the March to Support Military Families.

  • We repainted the Rochester Boys and Girls Club gym.

  • We provided funds for a 12 person passenger van for the Rochester Boys and Girls club.

  • We helped with the interior painting of the “Out of the Woods” homeless family shelter in Olympia.

  • Vocational Service:

  • We provided $8000 in scholarships to graduates of Rainier, Tenino, Rochester and Oakville high schools and $1500 in scholarships to New Market Vocational Skills Center

  • International Service

  • We obtained District and Rotary Foundation matching funds to allow the start of a water well project in the spring of 2007 in Rotary District 9210 in Zambia Africa.

  • We contributed $2000 for the International Trauma Treatment Program- An Olympia based internationally recognized program from victims of terror and torture.

  • We contributed $2000 to the Zwantenaho Mexico - Dental Program operated by Olympia Dentists

  • We participated in the world class RI Youth Exchange program by hosting an inbound student from Thailand and sponsored an outbound Tumwater High School student to Argentina.

  • We provided funds and many volunteers for the Cool Jazz – Clean Water Festival sponsored by the Area 9B clubs at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  We continue to supervise the scheduling of all volunteers at the Festival.

  • Club Administration and District Support:

  • Past President Gene Hansen doing a wonderful job as Assistance Governor for Rotary District 5020-Area 9B.
  • We had wonderful fellowship times at our annual Club Christmas Party and Valentines Dinner.
  • Our editor Paul Randall published an outstanding newsletter each month.

  • Our Program Coordinator Charlie Kirry arranged interesting and informative programs throughout the year.

  • We conducted a successful Rose Sale and are gearing up for another Sale in October 2007.

  • We netted over $73,000 at our Grand Charity Auction in May.

  • We implemented a new club organization structure as inspired by the RI new Club Leadership Plan
