Proceeds from the auction shares will benefit the South Sound YMCA’s Youth Fitness Room.

The Youth Fitness Room gives YMCA the opportunity to work with youth and teens in new ways.  The room will have open time available to all, but will also be utilized for fitness programs and educational activities.  We will also conduct educational classes on a wide range of topics from nutrition, the importance of regular exercise and muscle development.  The room is designed to engage youth and teens in physical activity by utilizing equipment and activities that appeal to their generation and help them develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

The expected outcomes of the Youth Fitness Rooms are as follows:

  1. Youth and teens are having fun while being physically active.  The indicators include youth feedback and observations from Fitness Room staff.
  2. Youth and teens being more physically active and with greater frequency.  This will be measured by the number of times each youth and teen uses the facility.
  3. Youth and teens sustaining higher levels of physical activity consistently over time.  Indicators include the average use of the facility on an annual basis and the participants monitoring their own progress in increasing their levels of activity.
  4. Youth and teens engaging in other activities, both within the YMCA and outside in the community, that will further increase their levels of physical activity.  This will be monitored through a youth survey to identify participation.
